THE ROMAN ROAD
What does it mean to get saved and how do I do it?

God's Plan
Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
This points out that God wants us to have eternal life!
Our Need
Romans 3:23
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
This points out that we are sinners.

Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
This points out that sin deserves death and hell. (note.... this verse was already used)

God's Provision
Romans 5:8
But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
This shows us that God loved us and saved us...

Our Response
Romans 10: 9-10
That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.
To be saved you must believe and confess.

Romans 10: 13
for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.
in other words, you must call on the name of Jesus to save you.

Sample Prayer: Dear God. I admit that I am a sinner and deserve death. I believe that Jesus died for my sins. I now call on the name of Jesus to save me. The best that I know how, I ask for forgiveness of my sins and make Jesus my Lord and master. Thank you for saving me. in Jesus Name, Amen.

The words don't save you. The decision to place your faith (trust) in Jesus saves you.

Note: I usually read these verses together, because they say a lot without having to jump from verse to verse.
Romans 10: 9-13
That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. As the Scripture says, "Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame." For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile--the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.
